iconv -V doesn't work on Solaris, so you can't use that as an
indicator. However, iconv should still work fine without any changes.
At least it works fine on Solaris 7. Perhaps you can check the
config.log in base to see that iconv was found. Other than that it
might take a little debugging to find out what's wrong.
