True.

But on the other hand, writing (startup) scripts (eg xinitrc) might get
a bit awkward, especially for 'newbies' - if they want to keep those
system-independant.

Ok, I re-installed a fresh CVS CO, and here's what I get:

:0> ps -fax | grep GNU

  44859 ?? Ss 0:00.02
  /usr/local/GNUstep/System/Tools/ix86/freebsd/gdomap -a
  /usr/local/etc/gdomap_if -I /var/run/gdomap.pid

  45967 ?? Ss 0:00.02
  /usr/local/GNUstep/System/Tools/ix86/freebsd/gnu-gnu-gnu/gdnc

  46160 ?? Is 0:00.02
  /usr/local/GNUstep/System/Tools/ix86/freebsd/gnu-gnu-gnu/gpbs

  :0> cat .xsession-errors
Found GDNCServer on '127.0.0.1' port 4743
Uncaught exception NSGenericException, reason: unable to register
  GDNCServer
  Unable to find GNUstepGSPasteboardServer.

Just made a quick test starting Finger.app several times - and it worked
again, despite the errors in .xsession-error ... weird?
