Most of them work. To be absolutely sure, go to shop and ask them to unpack, and plug it in your laptop. I'm using a

ID 077d:07af Griffin Technology iMic

Was plug and play under ubuntu.

BTW, there are a lot of linuxen. Specifying distro will narrow things down.
