It would help a bit to know what your experiments were. The concept of "interference" is really specific to your applications.

In general, though, yes, you will see interference from 802.11 systems in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. You will also get interference from Bluetooth devices, some portable phones, and microwave ovens to name some of the consumer electronics that operate in those 80 MHz. It's a dirty band to operate in.
