Why is your email signature advertising a website that hasn't been
updated since 2003?

Perhaps that's a cautionary tale about free-hardware projects - they
tend to go dead when only one or two people lose the interest or time
required to keep them alive.

Fair point.

The sad truth is that it would be close to impossible to build a LART today, mostly because key components (the processor, the Flash chips) are out of production and impossible to find.

The software, on the other hand, does live on. I get occasional support requests for commercial hardware which uses (a derivative of) our bootloader, and the FFT for ARM code gets more than a few hits.
