1. I _condemn_ edit counting because people start making little edits
just for the race and not for the quality.

For me personally edit count is nor a measure and instead I prefer to
think in the high "approved-to-submitted" rate.  That is, I am already
pleased if the entries I submit get approved, and that is enough for me
to keep going.

If we must, I ask the edit count to be opt out. That's something the
extension you linked does not do, at present.

2. To engage readers into contributing, we could use
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Interface/Sitenotice to add a
'Something missing? Want to help? Add your entry now!' style banner to
the top of each page; the 'add' word be in bold and it could link to
https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Free_Software_Directory:Participate .
Particularly, that would require editing [[MediaWiki:Anonnotice]].

3. I am trying to rewrite [[Free Software Directory:Participate]] to
make it less confusing. I store my revision at [[User:Svetlana]], but
that page is not approved so it is not visible after I save it. If we
may, please approve it. 

4. Also, for it I would like to upload a couple screenshots to the wiki,
but I get this error:
