Follow-up Comment #1:
There was a bug with the default audio in versions before 2.5 - you have
version 2.4.
However I'm not sure your symptoms match - does Audacity work on you system?
The point being that it is not Denemo that chooses the default audio but the
portaudio library, used by many programs...
If you want to experiment with your currently installed Denemo you can go to
Edit->Change Preferences->Audio and choose a specific audio output device from
the drop down list. However, on version 2.4 you can't effectively choose
"default" which will mean that Denemo hogs the audio out, preventing other
programs from using it.
Please report back if you install version 2.5 or otherwise make progress.
