Follow-up Comment #15, bug #32371 (project denemo):

It occurs to me that I don't really have any good tool for this - 4k is rather
a small amount of memory relative to the total on modernish machines. And,
sure enough, I have left Denemo running with the cursor blinking and I can see
the memory usage climbing - using a default setting of top(1) it has grown
from 4.1% to 4.5 so it is leaking on Linux.
I also think I can see why - the cairo routines create a cairo_t object every
draw and never destroy it.
I'll test out a fix next...
It is likely that this cairo implementation of the drawing is also the source
of the bad performance of playback. Any cairo experts around???
