Its not hard. The really short version is to 
Edit->Customize Commands, Shortcuts -> Allow quick Shortcuts

and then browse to the menu item you want, hover the mouse cursor over it and 
press the desired shortcut. Thats it.

I'm going to add chord bindings to the next version to Simple and Composer 
keyboard profile. Maybe we can find a key in arranger, too.

It is 0.8.22 with a leading zero.
