Maybe it would be less work if you make yourself a local branch in gub.
You can call it stable-0.8.10 or something. Then when its time to
release again just create another branch of 
stable-0.8.10 calling it stable-0.8.12 or something. The only diff
between the different branches would be the denemo.py. The dependencies
will eventual get old but at least you have some branches that just
work.
