Follow-up Comment #1:

I think this is worth pursuing - with the recent improvements in lilypond
import into denemo it may be good to try using abc2ly to get abc into denemo.
abc2ly is a python script, so it should be easy to tweak it if it fails on
your abc files.
Please try abc2ly on your files and then import into Denemo from .ly and
report back.
