Details:
running 'configure --prefix=$HOME/bin/denemo' leaves sysconfdir as /etc,
where it should be $HOME/bin/denemo/etc
I'm guessing that this is due to the configure script's override on line
19630 (yikes) that explicitly clears $prefix, but I didn't trace the script's
execution.
The following worked, but seems like it shouldn't have been needed:
./configure --prefix=/home/dave/bin/denemo
--sysconfdir=/home/dave/bin/denemo/etc && make
