No! No! it was not trash, it is exactly what I have in mind. At the
moment you always get the green bar, but that can go and instead you ask
for a tiny image to be placed on the score. So it has to be a
little .png file or something and of course if there was a performance
issue we would cache the load of the image, so it would be no more
expensive than the native ones. (The thing is, machines are getting
faster, but we humans stay the same).

No-one will write a C-function to insert an 18th c. trill sign on a
note, or most of the thousands of things you can do. Hell will just have
finished freezing over when that task is completed :-)

There are issues - to do with placing all the additions without them
crashing into each other in the display... (To see this, try the
fingering commands that are in the upcoming release - the numbers are
splatted on top or each other - you have to look at the status bar to
see what is there).
