I think you may need to get the public key from a keyserver, but I am
not at all sure. Like you, I found it very difficult to get to grips
with this stuff (and then I forgot what I had learned). My public key is
on Savannnah (but I did have a disaster, and lose my private key, and so
had to generate a new one, and the new release 0.8.0 is signed with
that).

I would guess it would not take long (with the help of a computer) to
generate a spurious file with the same md5 checksum: it is only useful
for detecting accidental corruption.

Absolutely. Denemo on windows is just something I have hacked together
to try and get a wider user base (and hence more testing etc). I
understand very little about how windows works, and it is a miracle to
me that Denemo actually works without code modification on windows.
The linux version I use every day and I feel fairly confident I could
fix.
