Oh, I forgot, the alphabeticalization of commands in kbd-custom.c is
also broken. This was a function called end_registration() or some such,
which I renamed thinking that it just did alphabeticalization, and that
I could repeat it at any time after adding a command. But I think I was
living in a fool's paradise, perhaps because I never added commands with
names early in the alphabetical order.
As it is, if you add commands from disk the keyboard shortcuts are all
pointing to the wrong commands if you have used this function.
I don't really understand what is going on here, it may be that there is
a simple solution. For ordinary everyday use people are not adding
commands so they could be alphabeticalized, but then, for ordinary
everyday use people won't be looking up the list of commands anyway.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Richard
