Fo me I would like to see two methods:

a)Recording live/playing to a tempo/metronome. I think this is much harder, 
especially when you want to have other midi values like dynamic, mod-wheel and 
so on. 

b)choosing a note duration and a keypress just gets you this one note/chord.
