standard output in java mode

I've read in the help that the execution window doesn't work with jdb.
Can one redirect output to a file?

I tried Program - Run - Run with Arguments where the arguments were

        class_name arg1 arg2 arg3 > out.txt

It seems to take the ">" and the "out.txt" as command line arguments
rather than noticing the ">" as a special redirect symbol.

This is Linux on a PC.
