Yes, running it as root should "fix" the permission problem. The latest
version uses a make target for the kernel to determine the install location
for the module. I have also received from Gentoo developers that this causes
problems for their dazuko ebuild's as well. I will be changing this very
soon (so that the target is used during the "make install" phase, and not
the compile phase).
