Sorry, I didn't realize that the windows jikes didn't support this.
The reason for this is to catch inadvertent checkins using weird
characters, which has happened a few times in the recent past.
Is there another way to solve this for your case?
If not I guess we just revert this patch and fix the bugs as they
arise.
