please don't read such malice into it. I posted exactly the patch produced by "cvs diff" on the affected files. I always do: in fact I automate the whole commit cycle with scripts which extract and save the changes for posting.
I simply made a mistake in having my ~/.cvsrc diff set to ignore whitespace. I have un-set this now. I don't remember why I had set it, perhaps due to a different project. I'm sorry it caused you grief.
