I had the same problem, and solved it by adding the -:c option to csi.

csi -:c

(emacs on OSX has many small problems though...)

BTW. There is an interesting eclipse plugin for scheme by Dominique 
Boucher: http://schemeway.sourceforge.net
I use both emacs and this plugin.
