You're probably right. I don't even know if the dev snapshots script
still functions for CHICKEN 5.

In that case we can just provide the one snapshot with both changes
applied. The intermediate one doesn't add anything useful besides
being required locally.
If everyone is okay with this, I can try to find some time to do it
this weekend.
