I am happy to announce the release of Zile 2.3.5,
the tiny Emacs clone.

This release introduces a new dependency on Lua. Building without Lua
leads to this:

 LUA_INIT= LUA_PATH="./?.lua"  -e 'PACKAGE="zile"' ./mkvars.lua ./tbl_vars.h.in
 /bin/sh: -e: command not found

Thanks. This is a packaging bug, as tbl_vars.h should be shipped, but isn't. I'll fix this with a new release.

Besides, Guile would have been a better choice for a GNU project IMO
(granted, my opinion is biased, but still).

GNU Zile is intended to be extremely portable. I expect one day to require a scripting language for building and running Zile; I chose Lua because it's extremely portable (requires ANSI C89 only) and because it's small enough to include in the package when that becomes the case, because Zile is used on old systems that don't necessarily have either Lua, Guile, or a suitably modern version of something else, like Python or Perl, already installed.

I also admit to working with what I know!
