Your solution works fine for us, especially since "docker load" can work fine with tar.gz files out of the box.

Let me test this and see if my 22GB file survives this fine ;-)

The resulting image was 300MB smaller (about 1.5%) but, more importantly, generating the ISO image was almost twice as fast (30 mins vs 50 mins) !
