Hi,

i uploaded

  http://www.gnu.org/software/xorriso/xorriso-1.4.5.tar.gz

with MD5 5fd3b7d5f7820f04bc6f1f409fb13842. On command -version it tells:
  ...
  Version timestamp : 2016.07.31.073903
  ...

It has a new xorriso command -use_immed_bit with parameter "on", "off",
or "default".
After a first contact with a drive, the command -status can tell which
is the default value on the given operating system:

  xorriso -outdev /dev/rcd0c -status -use_immed_bit

should say on OpenBSD
  ...
  -use_immed_bit default/off

If (by my fault) OpenBSD gets default "on", then you can still enforce
"off" by the command -use_immed_bit or by -as cdrecord option use_immed_bit=

  xorriso -use_immed_bit off ...more.commands...

  xorriso -as cdrecord use_immed_bit=off ...more.options...

Blanking and formatting will not tell progress.

Now i am curious whether this can blank and burn on your system.

Have a nice day :)

Thomas
