Me neither.
My best guess for now is that the failure and success
are random. Sometimes the CD is readable for the BD
burner, sometimes it is not.

Could be that the TOC sent the mount command to
the wrong address of the superblock of the second
session. Could also be that the superblock is not
properly readable.
The fact that a second drive can always mount the
medium indicates that the BD drive is going blind
with its CD eye.
