the new development snapshot
knows option
and in the -as mkisofs emulation options
  -p , -preparer

An open question remains:

ECMA-119 prescribes Preparer ID to consist of
"a-characters". That is ASCII
  0x20 - 0x22, 0x25 - 0x39 0x41 - 0x5A, 0x5f
  Space !"%&'()*+,=./0123456789:;<=>?ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ_

I.e. no #, no @, no $, no a to z.

mkisofs happily writes any character into the
ECMA-119 ID fields.
xorriso and libisofs allow this for Volume ID
because mount directory names may get derived
from that.
Other IDs get converted: Lowercase letters to
uppercase, other chracters to underscore.

Are there known cases where the Preparer ID or
other IDs must get recorded literally (and
violate the standard) ?

Have a nice day :)
