|Subject:||[Bug-XBoard] Winboard installer problem|

I am trying to install the latest winboard (winboard-4_2_7a.exe) and it is generating an error. It ‘inflates’, the setup startup dialog box opens, then a error dialog box pops up with the text ‘Setup is unable to run a program needed to proceed with the installation. Restart your system and try again. Error 105. I am running XP home with all the latest updates.
So I grabbed the source and tried to build with Visual Studio .NET (VC7) and got a compile error, and an error out of something called ‘flex’. I will try it again on another box later that has VC6 installed.
The compile error was:
c:\winbrdsrc\xboard-4.2.7\winboard\winboard.c(1633): error C2039: 'wEffects' : is not a member of '_DCB' which I fixed by commenting out line 1633 (dcb.wReserved = 0;).
The ‘flex’ error is:
winboard fatal error U1077: 'flex' : return code '0x1'
