I don't understand Mac OSX well enough or the ins and outs of the
version symbol processing to feel confident enough to devise a more
automated procedure for determining when to include or exclude.
However if you or others do and want to submit patches, we'll consider
them.
I'll try to find out what's the best route to take.
Until then, folks can use --without-versioned-libs.
