There are times when it would be very nice to be able to pull filenames
out of GNU Tar in a way that was friendly to use with xargs even for
filenames that had newlines or other bizarre characters in their names.
GNU Tar, of course, already has a way to do this when feeding it a list
of filenames, but not when you're getting a list of the filenames in the
archive. The most logical place for this seems like the quoting-style
option. All that would be needed is for 'null' (for '\0' separated raw
strings) be a valid choice for that option.
Thanks,
