Well that's easier said then done. I use applications off the distribution to take advantage of the vendors updates and patches. In this case I am using SuSE 10.2, so the version of tar that I am using is what SuSE is supplying. I suppose I can ask them to Please Upgrade it, but I doubt they will. I'll have to see what ships with 10.3. What version of tar is the minimum I would need for this to work?
