Hi Mario.
I'm the German translator of recutils. The po files are hosted at
translationproject.org (TP). In addition to the UI strings, I like to
translate the man pages.
Thanks for taking care of the German translation :)
Now, regarding the man pages... note that as part of our build process
we use the help2man utility in order to generate them. That utility
uses the output of --help and constructs the corresponding manual page.
We don't maintain manually-written manpages because our main
documentation is the texinfo manual, as John already pointed out.
Look at the -L option of help2man: it allows to produce localized manual
pages provided both the program and help2man supports the used locale.
For example:
$ help2man -L de_DE -o ./man/recsel.de.1 ./src/recsel
Look at man/Makefile.am. A clever make rule could look into po/ and
determine which languages are supported by the utilities. Then it would
invoke help2man in order to generate the localized man pages. Would you
like to contribute something like that?
