[bug-patch] Problems compiling GNU patch 2.6 on Solaris 10 w/Sun Studio 12 |

Hi,
I am currrently trying to compile GNU patch 2.6 on Solaris 10 x86 with
Sun Studio 12 and have encountered the following problems:
- It is assumed that SHELL is a bash:
lcsw% gmake
./update-version.sh: syntax error at line 24: `(' unexpected
Executing 'gmake SHELL=bash' works however.
- It is expected that strndup is there, which is not the case on
Solaris:
<http://www.gnu.org/software/hello/manual/gnulib/strndup.html>
I would recommend pulling the substitute in from GNULib.
To ensure future compatibility with Solaris I can offer an account on
the OpenCSW buildfarm as some GNU projects already use it:
<http://www-mockup.opencsw.org/extend-it/signup/to-upstream-maintainers/
>
The farm is equipped with all production versions of Solaris and all
relevant compilers.
Best regards
