Thanks for the report.
However, you didn't say which version of parted you're using.
That's an important detail, since a nilfs probe bug was fixed in parted-3.1:
* Noteworthy changes in release 3.1 (2012-03-02) [stable]
...
libparted: no longer aborts (failed assertion) due to a nilfs2_probe bug
[bug introduced in parted-2.4 with the addition of nilfs2 support]
If you can reproduce the bug with parted-3.1, we'll be very interested.
