I do not have any specific input regarding the resizing, however I
notice that parted 1.6.3
seems really old. The latest release is 1.6.24 and is available at
http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/parted/parted-1.6.24.tar.gz. I would suggest
that you try with that.
