Thanks for your report.
If you created your partition table with (whatever)Parted, or if you were
doing some modification to it while this message occur, you should not
write to the logical partitions anymore and you should save the data they
contains mounting them read only, if there is important data on it. This
is a known bug which has a greater probability to occur in 1.6.23 and 1.6.24
than in previous versions, and is already fixed in last SVN parted version,
so it will be fixed in 1.6.25. In the mean time it is safe to create logical 
partitions, starting from an empty extended partition, using fdisk, or
even parted if you put them on cylinder boundaries...

In any case please past us the output of "/sbin/fdisk -l -u /dev/<YOUR HD>"
