A bug?

Partition Magic messed up my partition tables, returning an "error 120" in their application. I'm trying to use qtparted on knoppix 3.7 to fix it and I got an error telling me to mail you some info. I think what caused this problem is my copying a logical partition off the end of the hard drive to an empty space in the middle of the extended partition in the middle of the hard drive... so, like this...

PP = primary partition
EP = the beginning of the Extended Partition
| = partition border in the Extended Partition
XX = taken up space in the Extended Partition.

[PP][PP][EP:XX|_empty_space_|XX][PP]

Then I copied the last PP to the empty space in the middle there. Anyhow, here's the error that I got after doing that:

Version 1.6.11
Assertion (disk != NULL) at ../../libparted/disk.c:1037 in function ped_disk_next_partition() failed.

None of my partitions are showing up in qtparted, but that's not bad when compared to fdisk in dos which won't show the info either, and windows XP which won't boot. fdisk for linux is printing up about 60 partitions when i actually only had about 7. It also says "partition table entries are not in disk order" when I print the partition table in linux fdisk. It also says that there are a ton of overlaps when I try to verify the partition table. Soooo, I hope all this info helps you figure out what that bug was all about. Meanwhile I'll be reloading the same 5 OSes.....
