suggestion for improvement of gnu parted

When I tried to rearrrange my partitions with parted, I had to notice that
my partition table was slightly damaged: parted 1.6.4 (started from a Linux
rescue CD) showed only one partion of type FAT16 comprising the entire disk.
But both fdisk and cfdisk were able to show all 7 partitions. After executing
the DOS command fdisk /mbr, parted was also able to show all partitions. In
essence, the way how partitions are detected may be improved. 

May be the entry 2001-12-18 of parted changelog has to do with it (as far as
I understand)
