That isn't a mini-project.  It's a major piece of work... depending
how much you implement.

Have you looked at how libparted handles them?

The problem is, "consistency" isn't well defined, since some pieces
of information, such as BIOS geometry are poorly defined.  You have to
take a very pragmatic approach ("Is it likely to work?")

Why are you writing it for DOS?!

Why not port Parted to DOS?  It shouldn't be hard... but it would need
a 32-bit DOS extender.  The one included with DJGPP should do.
