Right... parted doesn't have a notion of "precision" in input.
It will deliberately try to eat up free space less than a megabyte
or so.

At some stage, a precision thing would be nice...

Anyway, if you create partitions "in the middle of nowhere", it
will start exactly where you say (if possible)

The motivation is to minimize wasted space between partitions.
This is particularly important for mac's because they require
a partition slot for each free space region as well as for each
partition.
