parsort not using --parallel parameter

When I use the following command in Ubuntu WSL, it's spawning 24 threads (which is the same as my CPU). Am I running this command correctly?
sort -u --parallel=4 -S 200M -T /mnt/c/temp /mnt/d/wordlists/words02
$ parsort --version
GNU parsort 20230122
