Yes. All kinds of combinations. For CFLAGS as well.

configure even spits out:

checking for private terminfo-directory... /usr/local/share/terminfo

no joy, unfortunately.

I always get:

$ otool -L `which xterm` | grep ncurses
        /sw/lib/ncurses/libncurses.5.dylib (compatibility version 5.0.0, 
current version 5.0.0)

For comparison:

$ otool -L `which mutt` | grep ncurses
        /usr/local/lib/libncursesw.5.dylib (compatibility version 5.0.0, 
current version 5.0.0)
