Well, that's sad on both our parts :).  I usually bumble along until
Eli whacks me on the head and points out where my POSIX blinders have
led me.

Anyway, sorry for my inscrutability: by "previous version" I meant the
version you sent in your patch, here:

I haven't pushed the changes I made yet.
