Details:
A nice feature would be to have a a dynamic plugin based architecture, for
user based functions.
An example is that a command line argument can cause the load of a library at
runtime, say a .so file, with predefined structure.
The plugin can now export to make a list of functions that it provides, which
will be available in gnu-make as built in functions.
This should not be very difficult to implement too (i guess :) ), but the
possibilities it creates are really enormous.
