You should try the released version of GNU make 3.81. It was released
over a year ago so there is no reason to be using a beta version any
longer.

I'm sorry but we can't debug complete build systems on this list. If
you're having a problem you must provide a description of the problem,
along with at least the command line you entered and the error message
you received, plus, if possible, a small makefile that reproduces the
problem.
You should also examine the NEWS file that comes with GNU make; any
known backward compatibility issues will be listed there. Make sure
your makefile is not being affected by one of those.
Alternatively, you might contact a mailing list or help forum for the
zeos project and see if they have any thoughts about it.
