Follow-up Comment #2, bug #16051 (project make):

Well, I thought about this.  However, I don't really want to introduce a
temporary target then deprecate it again.  Also, this problem has existed in
virtually every version of GNU make and no one mentioned it until late last
year, so I think it will be OK to leave in there a bit longer... assuming we
can get 3.81 out the door :-/.
