i see, many thanks for the clarification.  i'll be happy to simplify my
workflow and remove fetchmail from it when you find the time.
unfortunately, i'm not familiar at all with mailutils and, more
generally, mail protocols, and cannot offer much effective help.

(for the record, i need to use imap because i apply different preserve
policies for different imap folders (which work just fine with movemail,
btw; i didn't show them in my example to simplify), so i cannot simply
move to a pop3 schema.)
