I would not think so.
The dot is placed a standard distance right of the x-extent of the rest
glyph, which should be the same in either case. If you see a difference,
you probably enough scheme to print the X-extents of the rest in each
case to see if there is a difference.
(I do not see any difference in the output when I try your example.)
