Comment #12 on issue 1472 by address@hidden: Collision between MMR and key signature
http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=1472I had not considered the question quite the way Carl did, but it seems that all properties like extra-spacing-height have a default value (maybe zero) for use when they are left unset, and we set the property is set for the exceptional cases.
I'm confident in recommending we treat LyricText as the exceptional case in extra-spacing-height, because we want exceptional sliding of things over LyricText, especially considering that the sliding is decided when we have to be conservative and assume the lyrics are pressed close.
I opened my own Rietveld issue <http://codereview.appspot.com/4095041/> for the polished version of the patch I argued for in comment 9. This restores the behavior for issues 1472 and 1474 back the 2.12.3 status, which is at least benign, and probably fixed for practical purposes.
