One problem with ottaviations that only concern a single voice is that it's not always clear from the typeset music what the composer intended, i.e. if the ottaviation applies to all voices of the stave or only to one of the voices. In the examples shown here, it's clear from the context, since the notes in the other voices start before the ottaviation (or are tied over), but if both voices share the same rhythm the notation will be ambiguous.

This is not necessarily an argument against implementing the feature, but still a possible practical problem both for the music editor and for the musician, trying to decipher what the composer had in mind.
